Background

Well-Being began as a concept in the Army in 2000, and was originally seen as an expansion of the quality of life concept. Viable Family Care Plans, close-knit Family Readiness Groups, effective financial planning, and readily available spiritual assistance are just a few of the many programs that contribute to the well-being of our Soldiers, DA Civilians and families. Well-Being is all of the intangibles that contribute to Soldier and family readiness. It is the feeling that causes Soldiers to enlist and serve; the emotion they feel when the flag is raised; the things that keep them and their families connected. WB is a more all-encompassing concept, and leads to more holistic results in the well-being and effectiveness of the force.

The ARNG is teaming with the Army to establish a comprehensive and integrated personnel system that enables the manning, readiness, and WB of the ARNG through policies, programs, procedures and transformed systems that integrates the spectrum of Well-Being initiatives, WB-related programs, and resources to meet the needs of soldiers, family members, and our civilian workforce. Aid in retention of quality soldiers and civilians through WB-related programs and resources to meet the unique needs of the ARNG.
