Operational and Special Interest

To stay on top of the needs of its people in a constantly changing environment, the Army has to continually monitor and report emerging operational and mission support initiatives which sustain the ability and willingness of Soldiers, families and civilians to support Army mission requirements.

U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2)

On April 30, 2004, the Department of the Army introduced a Disabled Soldier Support System (DS3). On Nov. 10, 2005 the Secretary of the Army changed the name of the program to the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2).

“Our Wounded Warriors and their families are self sufficient, contributing members of our community; living and espousing the Warrior Ethos knowing our Army and Nation remembers their selfless sacrifice.”

AW2 ... Taking care of our own!

The U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) provides elite Army “Gold Star” service that: influences law and policy; designs, integrates and leverages relevant policy and programs; educates our commanders, our Army and our Nation; delivers compassionate, tailored and personal support; and ensures we … “Never Leave a Fallen Comrade.”
