Unit Family Readiness Program

Commander’s Responsibilities:

  • Establish unit Family Readiness Program.
  • Appoint Military POC and Volunteer POC for Family Readiness.
  • Meet periodically with Volunteer POC and provide guidance and direction.
  • Display command emphasis and support.
  • Include family support issues in training meetings and drill letters.

Military POC Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Commander’s liaison to the Volunteer POC and Family Readiness Group.
  • Provide access to meeting space, phones, copiers, computers, etc.
  • Assist volunteers and family members with family assistance issues.
  • Be innovative: initiate a spouses’ club and focus on activities that solve real-world problems (i.e. tax help, auto problems, referral service, etc.).

Volunteer POC Responsibilities:

  • Lead Family Readiness Group.
  • Advocate for family readiness issues.
  • Coordinate with Military POC unit family readiness events and socials.
  • Meet periodically with commander for future planning guidance.
  • Involve all unit spouses and significant others in activities as much as possible. For additional information, contact your SFPC.
