The Army Green Service Uniform - Female
The servicewoman’s counterpart to the Army green service uniform is the Army
green classic service uniform. The classic service uniform is also a versatile
ensemble of components that can be arranged to form a Class A or Class B
uniform. These uniforms can be worn year-round for a wide variety of occasions,
including on and off duty, during travel, and for official and unofficial
occasions.
The Class A uniform consists of the Army green classic coat and either the Army green classic skirt or slacks, an AG 415
short- or long-sleeve shirt and a black neck tab. Authorized combat boots,
organizational berets, and such brassards and Military Police accessories can be
worn with the Class A or Class B uniforms.
The Class B uniform omits the coat. The black neck tab can be omitted if the short-sleeve
415 shirt is worn. The white shirt is not authorized for wear with the Class B
uniform.
The Army green classic coat is a hip-length, single-breasted coat with four buttons and button-down shoulder
loops. Two slanted flap pockets complement the front of the coat. The collar is
notched and the sleeves are plain for the enlisted servicewoman. Matching green
classic slacks are straight-legged with a slight flare at the bottom. A zipper
closure is located in the center front. Pant legs are plain for enlisted
soldiers.
Effective 1 October 2003, newly designed pants will replace the older style. The newer design incorporates belt
loops and a non-slip waistband. When wearing the slacks with belt loops with
the tuck-in versions of the AG shade 415 blouse, personnel will wear a 1-inch
black web belt with brass tip, and a 1 1/8 inch yellow brass buckle. Soldiers
are not required to wear a belt when wearing the new style pants with the
overblouse version of the AG shade 415 blouse.
A green classic skirt can also be worn with the uniform coat. It is a knee-length
skirt, slightly flared at the hem, with a waistband and side zipper closure on
the left side.
This style skirt is authorized for wear until 30 September 2003. A newly designed skirt replaces the older style
effective 1 October 2003.The new design skirt is tapered and incorporates a
non-slip waistband, back zipper closure, back open (kick) pleat, two darts each
in the front and back, and is fully lined.
There are two styles of shirts that may be worn with your uniform. The first style is a
green 415 shirt available in both long and shortsleeves. The shirt is a tuck-in
design with front princess seams, a convertible collar, and shoulder loops. The
collar and shoulder loops have fusible interlinings, and the collar has stays.
The other style shirt comes in either green 469 or
green 415 shades, and is also available in either short or long-sleeves. This
shirt is a semi-fitted, hip-length, overblouse style, with princess seams and a
three-piece back. This shirt has shoulder loops, a convertible collar, and a six
button front.
Soldiers are authorized to wear the short-and long-sleeved shirts with the class A coat, black unisex pullover and
cardigan sweaters, and the windbreaker.
Female Guard members wear the black beret with the Class A or B uniform. See "Wearing Your
BDU," for more information on the proper wearing of the beret.
Also authorized for wear with the servicewoman’s green classic
uniform are organizational berets and drill sergeant hats. Prior to 1 October
2003, Servicewomen do not wear belts or buckles with the classic uniform, nor do
they wear the necktie or bow tie. The only color option for socks is black, and
these can be worn only when slacks are worn. Flesh tone pantyhose are
permitted for wear only when the skirt is being worn.
The insignia, awards, badges and accoutrements for the Class A uniform are
the same as for servicemen. Likewise, the authorized insignia for the Class B
uniform is the same as for servicemen.
