Uniform 101
What you'll be wearing
Every Guard member is issued at least two complete uniforms: the Army Green Uniform and the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). Depending on your Guard assignment, you could also be issued a Service Uniform (i.e., Hospital Duty). There are also regulation outfits for physical training and for specialized training.
Any uniform issued to you will include everything you must wear: from boots to shoes to belt buckles...socks to shirts...nametags and tapes to headgear.
How To Wear Your Uniform
There's only one correct way to wear a military uniform — and that's the military way. A good rule of thumb is: if we didn't issue it, don't wear it. This includes costume jewelry, baseball caps, T-shirts, or other civilian clothing and accessories.
Your uniforms were designed to present a neat, crisp image. That means cleaned and pressed, with brass shined and shoes or boots polished.
Physical Fitness Uniform (PFU)
The Army Physical Fitness Uniform (PFU) is light, durable, and easily maintained. The PFU consists of black moisture wicking (running) trunks, gray moisture wicking short sleeve shirt, gray moisture wicking long sleeve shirt, gray and black (running) jacket, and black (running) pants. Running shoes will be worn as the appropriate footgear.
Reflective vests, belts, or other protective material will be worn by individuals running or performing Physical Training (PT) at night, during periods of low visibility, and in unit PT formations.
