Service Members Group Life Insurance

National Guard or Reserve members automatically get $200,000 of life insurance coverage for a monthly charge of $16, which is deducted automatically from your paycheck. You can choose your beneficiary (or beneficiaries). If you wish to refuse or reduce your coverage, you must do so in writing. Use SGLI as the base of your life insurance package – but not necessarily as the whole package. Consult a financial advisor to determine the level of life insurance you should carry.
